Bayern Munich have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Liverpool winger Luis Díaz in a deal worth £65.5 million, according to several media outlets on Sunday.
The move comes after the German champions had an earlier £59 million offer rejected by the Premier League title holders.
Díaz is said to have been granted permission to leave Liverpool’s pre-season tour of Asia to undergo a medical with the Bundesliga side.
The Colombian international’s transfer to the Allianz Arena appears imminent, providing Bayern with a high-quality replacement for Jamal Musiala, who recently suffered a broken leg and dislocated ankle at the Club World Cup and is expected to be sidelined for a lengthy period.
Díaz joined Liverpool from Portuguese club Porto in January 2022 and went on to win the Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup during his time at Anfield.
Last season, the 28-year-old made 50 appearances across all competitions, scoring 17 goals and playing a key role in Arne Slot’s side securing their first league title in five years.
The winger was absent from Liverpool’s 4-2 friendly defeat against AC Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday, further fuelling speculation about his future.
When asked about the player after the match, head coach Slot said, “In Lucho’s situation, there are a lot of rumours around him lately, and I cannot go into that. He’s training well with us, but we have decided, for now, not to play him yet. I’m used to talking to most of my players regularly. I cannot comment much more about that.”
The deal will provide a significant boost to Bayern Munich’s attacking lineup, particularly in light of Musiala’s injury.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have remained active in the summer transfer window, strengthening their squad with big-money signings, including Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz and Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike.
Additionally, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez have joined the Reds’ defensive ranks from Leverkusen and Bournemouth, respectively, while goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili has been signed from Valencia.
Reports also suggest Liverpool are considering a move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, who is valued at around £150 million.
