Manager Thomas Tuchel omitted midfielder Jude Bellingham from the England squad he announced on Friday for the upcoming matches against Wales and Latvia.

The Euro 2024 runners-up will play Wales in a friendly next Thursday before continuing their World Cup qualification efforts away to Latvia five days later.

Bellingham was absent from the September camp due to shoulder surgery, but has since participated in four matches for Real Madrid.

Nonetheless, Tuchel has not included the 22-year-old in his 24-man squad for this month’s fixtures, just two days after he was honoured as the 2024/25 England men’s player of the year.

Bukayo Saka is back after missing the September international matches due to a hamstring injury, but Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, and Tino Livramento will miss out due to injuries.

“It was only three weeks since the last camp and the last win, the last performance, so the question was why not bring the same group in because they set the standard,” said Tuchel.

“Now it is about creating habits out of it. We have, unfortunately, two injuries at the moment with Tino and Noni, and we bring, of course, Bukayo Saka in to replace Noni.

Trent Alexander-Arnold remains out due to injury, while Tuchel has again not selected Jack Grealish and Phil Foden.

England secured a 2-0 victory over Andorra last month, followed by a dominant 5-0 win against Serbia, making it five consecutive victories in their World Cup qualifying group.
