Italian Grand Prix motorcycle racer Marco Bezzecchi made history at the Circuit of the Americas on Sunday by securing his fifth consecutive MotoGP victory.

The 27-year-old Aprilia rider dominated the 20-lap United States Grand Prix, reclaiming the world championship points lead from his teammate Jorge Martin.

Bezzecchi’s performance was record-breaking; by leading the opening laps, he surpassed Jorge Lorenzo’s 2015 record for the most consecutive laps led, ultimately reaching a total of 121.

Starting from second on the grid, Bezzecchi quickly overtook pole-sitter Fabio Di Giannantonio and maintained a comfortable gap to the finish line.

He crossed the mark with a time of 40:50.653, finishing just over two seconds ahead of Martin, who took second place after winning Saturday’s sprint race.

Red Bull KTM’s Pedro Acosta rounded out the podium in third, while multi-time champion Marc Marquez finished fifth.

With this win, Bezzecchi becomes the first rider since 2014 to win the opening three races of a season, joining an elite group that includes Marquez and Valentino Rossi.

After an admitted mistake during the previous day’s sprint, Bezzecchi credited the Austin crowd for motivating his comeback.

He now leads the standings with 81 points to Martin’s 77 as the circuit prepares to head to the next round of the 2026 championship.
