The Founder of Rahmaniyya Group, Abdulrahman Bashar, has vowed to challenge a recent judgment issued against him by a Dubai court, calling it a pressure tactic aimed at damaging his reputation and business.
According to BluePrint Newspapers, the court sentenced Abdulrahman to one year in prison over an alleged financial crime linked to his dealings with CE Energy Company, an oil and gas firm. However, he maintains his innocence and is actively working to overturn the ruling with the support of global law firm HFW.
The verdict was delivered on January 30, 2025, in Abdulrahman’s absence, without giving him the opportunity to properly defend himself against the allegations. His legal team expects the Dubai courts to overturn the judgment once his defence is fully considered.
Abdulrahman said: “We refer to the criminal proceedings and recent judgment issued in the criminal courts against Mr. Bashar on 30 January 2025. First and foremost, Mr Bashar rejects any allegations of criminality.”

“There are several ongoing civil disputes between CEE and Mr. Bashar. The criminal proceedings have, in our view, been filed against Mr. Bashar as a pressure tactic in the context of the Commercial Proceedings, to threaten Mr Bashar’s reputation and business.
“Mr. Bashar will take all available steps available to him to challenge the judgment.”
Abdulrahman Bashar has accused CE Energy Company of employing aggressive litigation tactics in commercial proceedings, including attempting to secure a Worldwide Freezing Order (WFO) against him from the English Court.
He stated that the WFO was successfully challenged and discharged, with CE Energy’s appeal to the Court of Appeal also rejected. According to Abdulrahman, the English Court recognized the baseless nature of CE Energy’s legal manoeuvres.
Meanwhile, checks confirm that Abdulrahman is currently conducting his legal business in Nigeria and is not in prison, contrary to some assumptions.
