BREAKING: Devastating Fire Leaves Many Homelesss in Freetown

A wild fire on Thursday razed a cluster of makeshift houses in the shanty town of Susan’s Bay (Big Wharf), in Sierra Leone’s capital of Freetown.

The devastating fire started in the late hours of Thursday resulting in huge losses for residents. Families, who already in dire situation lost everything in flames.

While it is not clear the number of houses that have been destroyed, many are seeking temporary shelter. Some affected victims are either injured or dislodged.

Susan’s Bay is the largest informal settlement in Freetown, Sierra Leone. It is the site of devastating fires that injured over 400 people, displaced about 7000 persons and destroyed most of the community’s infrastructure in March 2021.
