BREAKING: Dr. Ganiyat Popoola Freed After 10-Months in Captivity

Dr. Ganiyat Popoola, a medical practitioner at the National Eye Care Centre in Kaduna who was abducted in December 2023, has finally regained her freedom. She was released on Wednesday evening alongside her nephew, Mugni Folaranmi, who had also been taken captive.

“It is true, Alhamdulilah, they have both been released,” a colleague of Dr. Popoola confirmed to News Central TV.

At the time of the kidnapping, Dr. Popoola, a mother of five, was breastfeeding her youngest child. She was abducted along with her husband, a military officer, and her nephew, Mugni. Her husband was released in March.
