BREAKING: Fire Outbreak at Dangote Refinery

A minor fire broke out at the Dangote refinery in Lagos on Wednesday, June 26. The incident happened at the refinery’s effluent treatment plant (ETP).

The spokesperson for Dangote Refinery, Anthony Chiejina confirmed in a signed statement that the fire was quickly contained.

He assured the public that there is no cause for alarm, as the refinery’s operation had continued, without interruptions. There were no injuries or harm reported among the staff on duty.

“We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent treatment plant (ETP) today, Wednesday, 26th of June. There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating, and there is no recorded injury or body harm to all our staff on duty,” Chiejina stated.

An Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) is a specialised wastewater treatment system designed to purify industrial wastewater, making it safe for reuse and ensuring that water released into the environment is free from harmful pollutants.
