BREAKING: Supreme Court Reinstates Anyanwu as PDP National Secretary

The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Friday reinstated Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a unanimous judgment delivered by a five-member panel, the apex court ruled that issues concerning the leadership or membership of a political party remain internal affairs and should not be subject to judicial intervention.

The court consequently set aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, which on 20 December 2024 had upheld a Federal High Court ruling in Enugu that removed Anyanwu from office.

The Supreme Court further held that the Federal High Court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the suit filed by Aniagwu Emmanuel.
