In a televised address on Wednesday night, Tanzania vice-president Samia Suluhu Hassan has announced that President John Pombe Magufuli has died from cardiac complications.
An outspoken COVID-19 doubter, Magufuli had last appeared in public on February 27 and was hospitalised on March 6 at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute,Dar es Salaam. In spite of speculations that he was sick and possibly incapacitated from illness, government officials had denied that he was ill.
