The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has arrived at the venue of a high-stakes meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Wike arrived at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja and, without addressing the press, walked straight into the meeting where several PDP governors, former governors, and members of the National Working Committee (NWC) were already gathered.
The closed-door session is expected to deliberate on key issues affecting the cohesion and direction of the opposition party.
According to sources close to the party, the meeting aims to resolve lingering disputes and internal tensions that have threatened the unity of the PDP in recent times.
The meeting aims to address several issues that have hindered peace within the major opposition party, the PDP.
The Governors of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, Osun State, Ademola Adeleke; Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang and Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri are in attendance.
Others include PDP Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum; Secretary of the Board of Trustees and a former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi; a former Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson; and a former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, a former Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and a former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.
A former President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, a former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, a former Bauchi State Governor, Adamu Muazu, a former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, a former Niger State Governor, Babangida Muazu, and a former Governor of Akwa Ibom, Udom Emmanuel are also there.
