A Briton, who was jailed 19 years by the Warwick Crown Court for sexually abusing three boys, got a glowing reference to teach in a Kenyan school.
62-year-old Paul Stevens taught Mathematics at a primary and secondary school, believed to be Pembroke House in Gilgil, between 2010 and 2012.
He had previously taught at £21,000-a-year Abberley Hall School in Worcestershire in 1999 but left after eyebrows were raised against his behaviour towards pupils.
In 2019, Stevens was sentenced to 19 years in jail by Warwick Crown Court for sexually abusing three boys.
Now, it has emerged that Stevens probably abused more pupils after he was given an outstanding reference by Abberley Hall School to teach abroad.
In 2010, he took up a teaching position at a boarding school in Kenya.
He was alleged to have committed at least two offences of voyeurism in Kenya in 2012 and was further jailed for three and half years to run concurrently with his existing sentence.
Judge Andrew Lockhart QC expressed concerns Stevens was given a reference by the school and said the ‘whole file needed reviewing’ by authorities.
