The death toll from an accidental explosion at an illegal gold mine southwestern Burkina Faso rose on Tuesday to 63, Authorities have announced.
News Central on Tuesday reported that a blast happened on Monday in Gbomblora community, killing over 60 and injuring several.
“We have 63 dead and around 40 injured,” the public prosecutor in the town of Gaoua, Alpha Compaore, told newsmen.
One individual has been apprehended and an investigation has been launched to investigate the cause of the explosion.
