Bus Fire Disrupts Traffic on Third Mainland Bridge

A high-capacity bus caught fire on Tuesday on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos State, disrupting traffic.

The bus was travelling towards Iyana Oworo when flames broke out near the Adekunle section of the bridge. As of the time of reporting, authorities had not confirmed whether the incident caused any casualties.

The fire caused significant traffic disruption, prompting the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service to deploy firefighters to contain the blaze.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident in a statement posted on X, stating that its officers were already on site to manage traffic and reduce congestion.

“A high-capacity bus is on fire on the Third Mainland Bridge, by Adekunle, inwards Iyana Oworo, affecting traffic,” LASTMA said. “Efforts are ongoing to put out the fire, and our officers are on scene managing the traffic situation.”
