Michael Carrick expressed Manchester United’s determination to maintain their strong form, emphasising that the team is “hungry for more” as they aim for a return to the Champions League.
The 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday pushed United into third place in the Premier League, marking their sixth win in seven games since Carrick took charge in mid-January. Under his leadership, the Red Devils have displayed the best form in the league, reinforcing their Champions League aspirations.
As United heads into their next match against Newcastle on Wednesday, Carrick insists the focus must remain on the present. “We certainly won’t get carried away,” Carrick said.

Despite the positive momentum, he stressed the importance of staying grounded and understanding the difficulty of maintaining long winning runs. He continued, “You’ve got to feed off the confidence but also acknowledge that runs of wins are hard to come by.”
Carrick, who is guiding United until the end of the season, acknowledged the team’s progress and expressed gratitude for the players’ efforts, saying, “I think we’re in a good position and we’ve kind of earned it. The boys have earned it and we’ve got to try and make the most of it from now on.”
The former United midfielder highlighted the team’s talent, commitment, and unity as key factors driving their success. “Talent-wise, ability-wise, I think the boys have shown what they can do,” he remarked. “There’s that balance of good habits, good behaviours, and looking after each other in times you need to really dig in.” Carrick’s belief in his players is clear, as he praised the team spirit that has been essential to their revival.
