Ghana’s local currency, the cedi, has shown relative stability against major international currencies on the interbank market, especially the US dollar.
According to the Bank of Ghana’s daily update, as of July 23, 2025, the cedi is trading at a buying rate of GH¢10.44 and a selling rate of GH¢10.45 to the dollar.
The British pound is being bought at GH¢14.12 and sold at GH¢14.14, while the euro stands at GH¢12.27 for buying and GH¢12.28 for selling.
Market checks by GhanaWeb Business on the same day at 7:45 AM show that in some forex bureaus, the cedi is trading at GH¢12.10 to the dollar. The pound is going for GH¢16.35, while the euro is being exchanged at GH¢14.20 on the retail market.
Meanwhile, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, has stated that the cedi appreciated by 42% during the first half of 2025.
