Chelsea cruised to a dominant 4-0 win over Paris FC on Wednesday in their second Women’s Champions League group-stage match.

Sandy Baltimore converted a penalty, while Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, Alyssa Thompson, and Erin Cuthbert also found the net for the English champions, sealing a comfortable victory for the London side.

Meanwhile, Barcelona also recorded a 4-0 triumph over Roma. Esmee Brugts opened the scoring in the second minute, followed by Kika Nazareth’s strike. Two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas added a third from the penalty spot in the 71st minute, and Caroline Graham Hansen completed the rout just before the final whistle.

Record eight-time champions Lyon earned a 3-0 win against Austrian side St Pölten. Germany’s Jule Brand and Lily Yohannes both netted their first goals for the French club, either side of a strike from Norway’s Ada Hegerberg — the all-time top scorer in UEFA women’s competitions with 67 goals in 77 appearances.

Elsewhere, two-time winners Wolfsburg edged Norwegian club Valerenga 2-1. Lineth Beerensteyn put the Germans ahead before Sara Horte equalised. Janina Minge secured victory from the penalty spot in the eighth minute of extra time.

In another dramatic finish, Belgian side Leuven stunned Twente 2-1. Linde Veefkind’s 83rd-minute penalty seemed to have earned a draw after Jaimy Ravensbergen’s opener for the Dutch side, but Sara Pusztai struck deep into stoppage time to snatch a last-gasp winner.

This season’s Women’s Champions League features 18 teams playing six matches each in a league format. The top four will qualify directly for the quarter-finals, while teams placed fifth to 12th will compete in play-offs for the remaining spots.
