Nottingham Forest’s poor run in the Premier League worsened on Saturday as they suffered a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea, extending manager Ange Postecoglou’s winless streak to eight matches.

Taiwo Awoniyi made his first start of the season, and Forest began brightly, creating several early chances.

Elliot Anderson almost capitalised on a defensive error from Chelsea but was quickly crowded out, while Morgan Gibbs-White volleyed narrowly over from close range.

Despite missing key players such as Cole Palmer and Moisés Caicedo, Chelsea found their rhythm after the break. Pedro Neto burst down the left wing and squared the ball for Josh Acheampong to open the scoring. Just three minutes later, Neto doubled the lead with a well-taken free kick.

Forest’s defence continued to falter, and Igor Jesus was unlucky when his header from Callum Hudson-Odoi’s cross struck both the bar and the post. Reece James sealed the win late on, firing home from a half-cleared corner.

Chelsea’s victory was slightly marred by a late red card shown to Malo Gusto, but it did little to affect the result.

The loss piles more pressure on Postecoglou, with owner Evangelos Marinakis seen leaving the stands before the final whistle.

Chelsea’s win marked their fourth in five visits to the City Ground, maintaining their strong record against Forest.
