Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, one of Nigeria’s most celebrated authors, and her husband, Dr. Ivara Esege, are mourning the loss of one of their twin sons, Nkanu Nnamdi.
According to Arise News, the child, who was just 21 months old, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, following a brief illness.
The deceased was one of the twin boys the couple welcomed in April 2024, when Adichie was 47 years old.
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is an internationally acclaimed Nigerian writer, known for her novels, essays, and talks that explore themes of identity, feminism, and postcolonialism. She gained global recognition with works such as Purple Hibiscus, Half of a Yellow Sun, and Americanah, and her TED Talk, We Should All Be Feminists, has been widely influential in conversations about gender equality.
