China has marked a new milestone in agricultural trade with the export of approximately 35,000 white-feathered broiler hatching eggs from Yunnan Province to Tanzania. The shipment, which departed on Friday, represents Yunnan’s first-ever export of domestically produced hatching eggs to an international market.
The “Guangming No. 2” hatching eggs, developed specifically for meat production, were chosen for their suitability to Tanzania’s farming conditions and tropical climate. The export aims to strengthen local poultry breeding, boost productivity, and enhance meat quality in the East African nation.
“Leveraging the opportunities presented by China’s Belt and Road Initiative, our Guangming No. 2 hatching eggs are heading to Tanzania in East Africa for the first time today. Setting sail from Mile in Yunnan, they mark a significant step toward realising China’s dream of achieving self-sufficiency in poultry breeding stock. We believe there’s a bright global market ahead,” said Li Yungang, Deputy General Manager of Mile Xinguang Livestock Technology Company.
In recent years, China and Tanzania have strengthened their partnership through trade, infrastructure investment, and development cooperation. This latest export underscores a deepening agricultural relationship between the two countries and highlights China’s growing role in supporting food production across Africa.
