A Nigerian content creator and disc jockey, Ademola Abiodun, popularly known as DJ Chicken, has been arraigned for allegedly threatening Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu.
He was arraigned before Magistrate M.F. Onamusi of the Magistrate’s Court in Ogba, Lagos, on a three-count charge bordering on alleged threat to kill, conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, and offences under the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
The case originated from a video uploaded on DJ Chicken’s social media where he discussed the 2027 presidential election.
In the video, he said, “Tinubu, you can’t win the election. If you win, I will kill Seyi Tinubu. I won’t say more than that.”
Following public backlash, the content creator posted another video retracting the remarks, calling them a joke intended to attract attention.
He emphasised that he had no intention of harming Seyi Tinubu and said the comments were part of his content creation. The Lagos State Government, however, proceeded with criminal charges.
The first count alleges that he posted a video containing a threat to kill Seyi Tinubu through his social media accounts, contrary to Section 232 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The second count accuses him of transmitting a grossly offensive and menacing message through a computer network, contrary to Section 24 of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
The third count alleges that his conduct was likely to cause a breach of the peace and was intended to intimidate or embarrass Seyi Tinubu, contrary to Section 168(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
DJ Chicken pleaded not guilty to all three charges. Magistrate Onamusi granted him bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
The court ordered his remand at Kirikiri Correctional Centre until the bail conditions are met. The case is now scheduled for further proceedings on August 3, 2026.
Meanwhile, DJ Chicken’s lawyer, Rotimi Stephen, confirmed that bail had been granted and said the content creator is expected to regain his freedom on Monday, provided he meets the bail conditions.
In a video posted on his Instagram page on Friday, Stephen said:
“Update on DJ Chicken’s case. This morning, he was arraigned before the Magistrate’s Court in Ogba. We applied for his bail, although it was very tough. The other party did not want him to be granted bail because of who the case is against.
“Thankfully, the court applied Section 115(2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL), and he was eventually granted bail. He is not out yet because we have not fulfilled and perfected the bail conditions. By Monday, we should be able to do that and he will be out.”
