The enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit policy by the Nigeria Police Force has been temporarily suspended following an interim court order restraining the police from proceeding with the exercise.
However, in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, on Thursday, the Force was served with an interim order issued on December 17, 2025, in Suit No. HOR/FHR/M/31/2025 restraining the police from enforcing the policy pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit or until the court vacates the order.
The Nigeria Police Force had earlier announced on 15 December 2025 that it would resume enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit policy from January 2, 2026, citing its responsibility to ensure public safety and internal security across the country.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to the rule of law, stressing that judicial authority would be respected at all times. He noted that the Nigeria Police Force remains focused on its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property while maintaining public order.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in upholding the rule of law while discharging its primary mandate of protecting lives and property,” the Inspector-General said, adding that the Force would continue to rely on lawful and intelligence-driven strategies to address security challenges nationwide.
The police also assured members of the public that further updates and clear guidance would be communicated once the court reaches a determination on the matter, in the interest of public order and national security.
