The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has firmly dismissed recent claims of a shutdown, assuring Nigerians and industry stakeholders that operations are running smoothly, with production and supply continuing without interruption.
In a statement, Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, made it clear that there had been no halt to truck loading activities and that the production line remains fully active..
“The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is fully operational. There has been no shutdown, nor has there been any suspension of truck loading activities,” the statement read.
Responding to concerns about the occasional sale of Residual Catalytic Oil (RCO), the refinery explained that these transactions form part of routine operations, often involving large parcel sales that may require public tender processes.
The company stated that it continues to deliver more than 40 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) each day, along with steady supplies of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), also known as diesel.
“As the world’s largest single-train petroleum refinery, the facility employs advanced predictive and preventive maintenance protocols to ensure uninterrupted operations. Routine maintenance activities are standard and do not impact the overall fuel supply,” the statement added.

In response to speculation over potential fuel shortages and price increases, the refinery openly challenged those spreading the claims, urging them to place large-scale orders if they genuinely anticipate any market disruption.
“To those who believe this misinformation and anticipate a bullish market, we extend a challenge: We invite interested buyers to place immediate orders for up to 40 million litres of PMS daily and 15 million litres of AGO daily, for the next 90 days, with full upfront payment. Should any supposed supply shortage occur, these buyers would be well-positioned to benefit from the predicted market rise.”
Reaffirming its dedication to openness and Nigeria’s energy self-sufficiency, the refinery called on the public to disregard what it labelled “unfounded rumours” spread by “unpatriotic actors.”
According to the statement, these claims are being driven by “unscrupulous and unpatriotic individuals” intent on undermining the nation’s energy independence for selfish gain, including importing substandard fuels under the false guise of local supply shortages.
