Judge Nirmal Shant granted Coote conditional bail and ordered him to return to court on December 11. A pre-sentence report has also been commissioned to inform sentencing. “You have pleaded guilty to a serious matter,” the judge said, adding that the decision on whether Coote would face custodial sentence would follow once all information was reviewed.

Coote, who was dismissed from his officiating role last year, had previously faced public scrutiny after a video emerged in 2020 showing him making derogatory comments about former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
