Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has imposed an immediate 24-hour curfew on Biseni community in Yenagoa Local Government Area following unrest that disrupted public order.
The directive was issued on Friday after the governor received briefings from security commanders about disturbances in the community, where some individuals reportedly blocked roads leading into and within the town and set bonfires.
Diri’s Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabra, announced the restriction in a statement, confirming that it took effect immediately.

“Following the breakdown of law and order in Biseni community in Yenagoa Local Government Area, the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has placed the community under a 24-hour curfew,” the statement said.
The governor also instructed security operatives to restore calm and ensure normal activities resume in the community.
He urged residents to remain peaceful and obey the law, assuring them that the state government would take necessary steps to safeguard lives and property.
