Novak Djokovic will begin his preparations for the Australian Open by competing at the Adelaide International, organisers confirmed on Tuesday, as the Serbian star targets an 11th title in Melbourne and a record-extending 25th Grand Slam crown.

The 38-year-old world number four is no stranger to Adelaide, having previously played the tournament twice and lifted the trophy on both occasions, in 2007 and again in 2023.

Djokovic will return for the combined ATP-WTA event from January 12 to 17, using it as his final warm-up before the Australian Open gets underway at Melbourne Park on January 18.

Although he has reduced his schedule in recent seasons, Djokovic remains a formidable presence on tour. He last won a Grand Slam in 2023 and has claimed titles this year in Geneva and Athens, underlining his continued competitiveness at the highest level.

The men’s field in Adelaide will also feature several notable names, including Britain’s Jack Draper, rising Brazilian Joao Fonseca, American Tommy Paul, and former world number three Stefanos Tsitsipas.

On the women’s side, reigning Australian Open champion Madison Keys headlines the draw, joined by fellow top-10 players Jessica Pegula, Mirra Andreeva, and Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Tournament director Alicia Molik said the 2026 edition of the Adelaide International reflected the event’s growing stature on the global tennis calendar, highlighting its ability to attract elite talent from both the ATP and WTA tours.
