Nigeria’s female basketball team, D’Tigress, have secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Women’s Afrobasket taking place in Cote d’Ivoire.
The team achieved a commanding 83-47 victory over Cameroon in their quarter-final match on Thursday at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan.
The win marks Nigeria’s sixth consecutive appearance in the semi-finals of the tournament. D’Tigress have consistently reached the Women’s Afrobasket semi-finals since 2013.
The Nigerian team showcased their best performance right from the start of the game against Cameroon, establishing dominance early on. At the end of the first quarter, the score stood at 21-9. This lead was maintained throughout the second quarter, with D’Tigress ahead 41-29 at halftime.

The third quarter revealed the disparity between the teams as Nigeria scored 25 points while Cameroon managed only two. The final quarter also saw an easy victory for the D’Tigress, concluding the game with a 36-point lead.
Amy Okoronkwo led the game with 18 points, the highest of any player. Victoria Balogun and Nicole Enabosi followed closely with 12 points each.
Nigeria will take on Senegal in the semi-final scheduled for Saturday.
The D’Tigress are on track to claim their fifth consecutive Women’s Afrobasket championship.
