Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has commended the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Nigerian Military for the smooth running of the governorship elections so far.
He said the outcome of voters at the polling units indicates that people are very interested in the elections. He said at the time he got to his polling unit at Oredo in Edo State, the ballot boxes were already full.
He said, “You can see the turn out, people have come out, you can see the enthusiasm. It’s not mid-day yet and the ballot box in my polling unit is already full.
“Clearly, that tells you that people are very interested because they have been mobilised. It marks a significant water shed for us in Edo State.”
He expressed satisfaction at the number of youths that came out to vote and the easy voting process. He said he hopes the collation process would be the same.
