Egypt has confirmed that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will join US President Donald Trump’s proposed “Board of Peace,” the country’s foreign ministry said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the ministry said Egypt had accepted the invitation and would proceed with the necessary legal and constitutional steps to formalise its participation, while commending Trump’s approach to Middle East affairs.
The statement added that Egypt supports the objectives of the Board of Peace, particularly its role in the second phase of a broader plan aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza.
“Egypt announces its acceptance of the invitation and its commitment to fulfilling the relevant legal and constitutional procedures,” the statement said.
“Egypt expresses its support for the Board of Peace’s mission for the second phase of the comprehensive plan to end the conflict in Gaza,” it added.
