Egypt has issued a warning to its citizens, advising them against travelling to Somaliland due to security risks. In a statement posted on the Egyptian Embassy’s Facebook page in Mogadishu, Egyptians currently in Somaliland, a self-declared region not officially recognised by Egypt, were urged to leave immediately via Hargeisa Airport.

The embassy cited deteriorating security conditions in Somaliland, which limit its ability to provide consular support to Egyptian nationals in the area. It also called on Egyptians planning to travel to any region within the Federal Republic of Somalia to adhere to regulations and procedures set by Somali federal authorities.
