Emergency Arab Summit on Palestine Set for Cairo on February 27

Egypt has announced that it will host an emergency Arab summit on February 27 in Cairo to address the ongoing situation in the Palestinian territories.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement that the summit would be held following coordination with Bahrain and the current president of the Arab League.

The decision to convene the summit came after consultations with Arab countries, including the State of Palestine, which requested the gathering to address the latest developments concerning the Palestinian cause.

The summit’s urgency follows recent statements from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who suggested that Palestinians should establish their state in Saudi Arabia rather than in Palestine.

He dismissed the notion of Palestinian sovereignty, prompting strong condemnation from Saudi Arabia.

On February 4, US President Donald Trump proposed a controversial redevelopment plan for Gaza, suggesting Washington would “take over” the region and resettle Palestinians elsewhere.

This proposal was met with widespread condemnation from Palestinians, Arab nations, and other countries, including Canada, France, Germany, and the UK.
