The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, will lead the Hawan Idi (Eid Durbar) this Eid-el-Fitr as Kano State ramps up security measures.
In a statement on Wednesday, the state Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, said the state government under Governor Abba Yusuf received intelligence through the State Security Council indicating attempts by some individuals to cause confusion and disrupt law and order during the upcoming celebrations.
The government stressed that while it is committed to promoting and preserving the state’s cultural heritage, it will prioritise maintaining peace and law and order, and safeguarding the lives and property of residents.

Emir Sanusi is set to lead the Durbar procession from the Kofar Mata Eid Praying Ground, through designated routes to Gidan Shettima, and ending at Kofar Fatalwa of the Kano Emir’s Palace, showcasing his central role in the festivities.
Hawan Nasarawa will proceed in a modified form without horseback riding, while other processions, including Hawan Daushe, Hawan Fanisau, and Hawan Dorayi, have been suspended for public safety.
All security agencies have been instructed to intensify surveillance, ensure compliance with directives, and take necessary measures to prevent any breaches of peace before, during, and after the festive period.
Residents are advised to remain calm, law-abiding, cooperate with security agencies, and avoid spreading unverified information.
The government also praised the dedication and professionalism of security agencies and wished all Muslims in Kano a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
