The Nigerian Government has arraigned former Minister of Aviation, Senator Stella Oduah, before Justice Hamza Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court over an alleged N5 billion fraud.

Oduah faces a five-count charge brought by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, relating to advance fee fraud and conspiracy.

One count alleges that in January 2014, Oduah fraudulently obtained N2.4 billion through Broad Waters Resources from the Federal Ministry of Aviation, claiming the funds were for technical supervision. Another count accuses her of securing N1.6 billion and N839 million through similar means, in violation of section 8 of the Advance Fee Fraud Act.

Oduah and her co-defendant, Gloria Odita, denied all charges. Justice Muazu granted Oduah bail on self-recognition, ordering her to deposit her passport with the court and restricting travel abroad without court approval.

Her legal team includes Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), while Wale Balogun (SAN) represents Odita. This marks the second time Oduah is being tried, following the withdrawal of previous charges at the High Court in Abuja.
