The Norwegian national is charged with multiple serious sex offences alleged to have occurred between 2012 and 2024.
The charges include two counts of raping a child, five counts of sexually assaulting a child, two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, and two counts of assault by penetration of a child.
Additionally, the 65-year-old faces charges related to sexual assault and coercive behaviour against a female.
No pleas were entered during the brief hearing.
Leiva-Modahl was granted conditional bail, and the case was referred to Manchester Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing scheduled for November 18 due to the severity of the allegations.
The Crown Prosecution Service confirmed it was proceeding with the case, finding sufficient evidence and public interest to prosecute.
