Former Oyo State Governor, Rashidi Ladoja, has been officially crowned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Ladoja received his crown at the Ose Meji Temple located in the Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of the state. He was previously given the traditional Akoko leaf at the Labosinde Compound in Oja’ba, Ibadan.

He is also scheduled to be formally given the staff of office by Governor Seyi Makinde at Mapo Hall.

Ladoja was designated as Olubadan following the death of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on July 7, 2025.

The vibrant installation ceremony drew a large crowd of guests and residents of Ibadan, all dressed in colourful outfits.

Notable attendees included the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade; Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Ọlaoye; Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III; former Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun

Also present were former Kano Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso and former Osun Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who came to pay their respects to the new monarch.

The event was accompanied by a strong security presence, including operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) and members of the Nigerian Army, to ensure a smooth ceremony.
