FEC Clears 2026 Budget for Assembly

The Federal Executive Council has approved the 2026 Budget, enabling President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Bola Ahmed Tinubu to present it to a joint sitting of the National Assembly later today.

The President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, announced the approval on Friday, December 19, in a brief post on X.

According to the statement, the Council confirmed that the budget is ready for presentation this afternoon by President Tinubu to a joint session of the National Assembly.

The approval follows a series of meetings in which the Council reviewed key parameters of the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and the Fiscal Strategy Paper.

Earlier decisions by the Council set an oil price benchmark of $64.85 per barrel and fixed the budget exchange rate at ₦1,512 to one US dollar for the 2026 fiscal year.
