The old terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos was engulfed in flames on Monday, News Central can report.

In a video seen by News Central on Monday afternoon, a thick fog of smoke filled the air. The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria confirmed the fire outbreak in a post shared on X on Monday.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wishes to inform the public of a fire outbreak at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos,” the post read in part.

The agency further noted that a team of firefighters have been deployed to the scene to extinguish the fire.

“Our firefighting team is currently responding and working to contain the situation. No loss of life has been recorded. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
