A former UK doctor, Nathaniel Spencer, has been charged with dozens of offences over alleged sexual abuse involving 38 patients, including a child under the age of 13, prosecutors have confirmed.
Spencer, 38, is accused of committing “several serious sexual offences” while working as a doctor at hospitals in central England, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The charges relate to alleged abuse said to have taken place between 2017 and 2021 at two NHS hospitals in Stoke-on-Trent and Dudley.
Regional prosecutor Ben Samples said the case included allegations of sexual assault, assault by penetration, attempted assault by penetration and offences against a child.
Spencer, from Birmingham, faces 15 counts of sexual assault, 17 charges of assault by penetration and one count of attempted assault by penetration.

He is also accused of a further 12 offences involving a child under 13, including sexual assault and assault by penetration.
Prosecutors have not revealed how many children may be among the alleged victims.
Samples said prosecutors had worked closely with Staffordshire Police on what he described as a complex and thorough investigation.
“All available evidence has been carefully reviewed, and we have determined there is a realistic prospect of conviction. We also believe it is in the public interest to pursue criminal proceedings,” he said.
Spencer, who was working as a resident doctor—previously known as a junior doctor—is due to appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on January 20 for his first court hearing.
