Qatar confirmed on Sunday that four of its military personnel and three Turkish nationals, including one serviceman, died when a helicopter crashed within its territorial waters.
The Gulf state’s interior ministry stated that rescue efforts had concluded and that a seventh individual had been confirmed dead.
“All those who were on board have been found, numbering seven, and their martyrdom has been confirmed,” it said.
Earlier, Qatar’s defence ministry identified the victims as Captain Mubarak Salem Daway al-Marri, Sergeant Fahad Hadi Ghanem al-Khayarin, Corporal Mohammed Maher Mohammed, and Captain Saeed Nasser Sameekh of the Qatari armed forces.
The ministry also named Major Sinan Tastekin of the Qatar-Turkey Joint Forces, along with two Turkish civilians, Suleiman Cemra Kahraman and Ismail Anas, among those who lost their lives in the crash.

They are the first recorded fatalities from both countries since the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran on 28 February, prompting the Islamic Republic to carry out retaliatory air operations against its Gulf neighbours.
The Turkish defence ministry said: “A Qatari armed forces helicopter, which was carrying out a training exercise as part of the Qatar-Turkey Joint Forces Command, crashed into the sea.”
“A member of the Turkish armed forces and two Aselsan technicians” were killed in the crash, the ministry said, referring to the Turkish defence company.
Earlier, Qatar’s defence ministry indicated that the helicopter went down due to a “technical malfunction” during a routine flight.
