A ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip will take effect at 0630 GMT on Sunday, January 19, as confirmed by Qatar, which played a key role in mediating the deal.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, Majed al-Ansari, announced the ceasefire time on social media, advising residents to exercise caution and await further instructions from official sources.
The exact start time had been unclear, but Israel’s cabinet had earlier approved a hostage and prisoner exchange deal, confirming that no prisoners would be released before 1400 GMT.
