Ghanaian officials have seized a luxury vehicle purportedly associated with crime proceeds from well-known musician Charles Nii Armah, also known as Shatta Wale, following a request from the United States.
The 2019 Lamborghini Urus is reportedly linked to the criminal activities of Ghanaian Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence in the U.S. for fraud.
Wale claims he is unaware of any connection to the imprisoned Ghanaian, asserting that he is a “third-party owner” of the vehicle.
“I don’t know who shipped [it] to the country,” he said.
Shatta Wale is one of the most prominent figures in Ghana’s music scene and worked with Beyoncé on the track Already from her 2019 Lion King album.
Wale took to social media to voice his displeasure with the authorities regarding the retrieval of the yellow Lamborghini, questioning why law enforcement officers arrived at his residence armed.
“Bringing guns to my house was uncalled for,” the dancehall artist wrote on his social media page, accusing the agency’s chief executive of humiliating him.
He claimed he purchased the car for $150,000 ($113,000) and had provided the officers with relevant documentation.
The Lamborghini is set to be sent back to the U.S. “as part of [Amuah’s] $4.7m restitution,” according to Eoco, who also indicated that the FBI was involved.

The agency reported that the vehicle was taken in a civil manner without any confrontations. Wale was subsequently permitted to personally return the car, which is now under the custody of Eoco.
U.S. court documents reveal that Amuah and his accomplices had misrepresented themselves as vendors to swindle nearly 70 public and private organisations throughout the country. They deceived these entities into transferring funds into bank accounts controlled by their group via shell companies.
In 2023, Amuah received an 86-month prison sentence, and the car was identified as one of the items earmarked for restitution to the victims.
