Google has opened applications for its 2025 Software Engineering Apprenticeship, which will begin in September at its Paris office. The programme offers aspiring software engineers a chance to gain practical experience at one of the world’s leading tech companies.
Described by Google as a hands-on learning opportunity, the apprenticeship allows participants to work closely with Google’s engineering teams on real-world projects involving coding, software development, testing, and project management. Apprentices will also develop technical skills such as programming in multiple languages and gain insights into software testing and development processes.
Google highlighted several advantages of the programme, including international recognition, practical exposure to live projects, and the opportunity to learn from top-tier engineers. Apprentices will receive mentorship and take part in training sessions, gaining a strong foundation for a future career in tech.
To be eligible, applicants must already have the right to work in France. This includes French nationals, EU or European Economic Area citizens, and non-EU students with valid French work permits or residency that supports apprenticeships. Google made it clear that it will not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
Candidates must be enrolled in one of the following during the 2025/2026 academic year:
- A one-year Master 2 programme in Software Engineering or Computer Science, or
- A three-year engineering school course (Bac+3 to Bac+5) combined with a CFA (Centre de Formation d’Apprentis) programme.
Fluency in both English and French is required. Applicants should demonstrate a passion for technology, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork skills. Google is also looking for proactive individuals with strong communication and organisational skills, especially those who have shown initiative through tech-related projects beyond their coursework.
Successful applicants will support software development projects, follow established design and coding standards, and ensure rigorous testing according to Google’s guidelines. Apprentices will also engage in mentoring and formal training sessions as part of their development journey.
Applications must be submitted by April 30, 2025.
