Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has vowed that no opposition party would cease control of the state or Nigeria in the upcoming 2027 election.
He also took a swipe at the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the opposition coalition that has vowed to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Yusuf, who recently ditched the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), made the remark while responding to members of opposition parties who began addressing him as a one-term governor following his defection to the ruling party.

“And as we heard them say, one term. What I want to say is that we did one term in the NNPP and left. We will do the second term in the APC. There are two terms in APC, the party of the people. The one term they say applies to those in ADC. You have seen what happened to them. They will not even form a government, let alone have one term,” the governor said.
“Let me say that APC in Kano State is the only winning party. There is no other party that can take control of Kano and Nigeria as well by the grace of Allah. I believe that come 2027, by the grace of Allah, APC will win this country, will win our state, will win all the elected posts, from the President to the Senate, to the House of Representatives, to the Governorship elections, as well as to state assemblies.”
The Kano State Governor is among the 31 of Nigeria’s 36 governors who are members of the APC.
