Gunmen Kill 13 Security Personnel in Burkina Faso (News Central TV)

Gunmen on Sunday killed not less than 13 security personnel in an ambush near Taparko, Burkina Faso.

It was gathered that the attack was perpetrated by suspected religious extremists.

Not less than eight persons are still missing following the attack.

Additional security personnel have been mobilised to the area to search for the missing individuals and arrest the assailants.

It is envisaged that the attacks in the area are likely to reoccur. This has triggered a  heightened security presence in the area over the coming days.

Earlier on Sunday, a bus hit a landmine near the town, killing two civilians

Recent attacks in Burkina Faso have been centred around the border with Mali and Niger in the Hauts-Bassins, Boucle du Mouhoun, Nord, Sahel, and Est regions.

A series of attacks in Ouagadougou in 2016, 2017, and 2018 by al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb and its affiliates was particularly deadly, sparking global reaction.
