Erling Haaland struck with a stoppage-time penalty as Manchester City snatched a dramatic 2–1 victory at Anfield on Sunday, cutting Arsenal’s Premier League lead back to six points.
City looked set for defeat until six minutes from time, when Bernardo Silva cancelled out Dominik Szoboszlai’s sensational free-kick to ignite a chaotic finish.
Haaland then converted from the spot to put the visitors ahead. City later had another goal disallowed after a VAR review, which also saw Szoboszlai sent off for his involvement in the incident.

The win marked City’s first away victory against Liverpool in front of supporters since 2003 and renewed pressure on leaders Arsenal in their pursuit of a first league title in 22 years.

Liverpool’s defeat dealt a further blow to their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League, leaving them sixth and four points outside the top five.
Despite both sides having shared the last eight league titles, defensive lapses and missed chances again underlined why Arsenal have seized control of the title race this season.
