Lebanese state media reported a sudden and intense Israeli airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburbs on Friday afternoon.

According to the National News Agency, Israeli warplanes targeted the Tahouitet al-Ghadir district with what was described as a “very heavy strike.”

Unlike previous military actions in the area, this raid reportedly occurred without any prior warning or evacuation orders from the Israeli military.

Footage from the scene showed thick plumes of smoke rising over the residential area, which has seen repeated escalations in recent months.

This latest bombardment hit the same neighbourhood where Lebanese authorities reported that an earlier strike on Friday morning had already claimed the lives of two individuals.

The back-to-back nature of these attacks has heightened concerns over the safety of civilians in the densely populated southern suburbs.

As the situation continues to develop, local emergency services are working to assess the full extent of the damage and search for any additional casualties.

This surge in activity comes as regional tensions remain high, with various factions and international actors monitoring the potential for further spillover into the broader Middle East.
