Hon. Erhiatake Ibori Wins House of Rep Seats in Delta

The seat in the House of Representatives for the Ethiope Federal Constituency was won by Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, a PDP candidate.

Ibori-Suenu is the daughter of Chief James Ibori, a former governor of Delta State. She won the election with 20,814 votes, while Halims Agoda of the All Progressives Congress, APC, received 15,172.

The PDP candidate, Nnamdi Ezechi, won the House of Representatives seat for the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in a related development. Ezechi got 22,622 votes, while the APC candidate, Chief Johnson Opone, polled 14,958 votes.

Meanwhile, a staff member of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been shot dead by security personnel who reportedly shot into the bus that was conveying some workers of the commission after electoral duties in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State.

The commission’s Delta state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Monday Udoh Tom, who disclosed this to newsmen at the state collation centre in Asaba yesterday, said that several other occupants of the vehicle also sustained injuries during the incident.
