Rangers claimed a memorable 3-2 victory over Celtic on Sunday, handing the hosts their first home league defeat since December 2023.
Hamza Igamane’s stunning late strike secured the win for the visitors, who were dominant in the first half.
Fresh from securing a place in the Europa League quarterfinals, Rangers came out strong and took the lead through Nicolas Raskin, who scored from James Tavernier’s corner in the opening minutes.
Despite some early chances for Celtic, Rangers doubled their lead when Raskin set up Mohamed Diomande for a goal in the 37th minute.
Celtic responded after the break, with Daizen Maeda heading in from Jota’s cross to halve the deficit. They then equalised in the 74th minute when Reo Hatate converted a pass from Luke McCowan to make it 2-2.
However, just when it seemed Celtic would complete the comeback, Morocco’s Igamane, coming off the bench in the 88th minute, scored a powerful goal to secure Rangers’ first win at Celtic Park since 2020.
While Celtic still lead the league by 13 points with only eight games remaining, this famous victory gives Rangers’ interim manager Barry Ferguson a huge boost in his bid for the permanent job.
Despite a tough week with extra time and penalties in the Europa League, Rangers showed no signs of fatigue and produced an excellent performance.
