Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, have arrived in the United Kingdom (U.K.) for a state visit.
The president touched down at London Stansted Airport shortly before 4:00 pm UK time
He and the First Lady will meet with King Charles III of the U.K., who will host them during their two-day stay in the United Kingdom.
Nigeria and the U.K. share an age-long history and diplomatic ties. The West African country was colonised by Britain. Upon attaining independence, Nigeria became a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, an international organisation comprising countries that were once part of the British Empire.
Timubu’s visit is the first in four decades that a Nigerian president will make a state visit to the U.K.
