The Governor of Niger State, Umaru Mohammed Bago, has established a curfew from 6 pm to 6 am in Minna, the state capital, due to the recent surge in attacks and murders throughout the city.
The governor announced that the movement of commercial motorcycles and tricycles will be limited between the hours of 6 pm and 6 am.
Bago shared this information during a critical security meeting with traditional leaders and security agency heads at the Government House on Tuesday.
He noted that medical emergencies would be exempt from this curfew.
He explained that the purpose of this new measure is to address the increasing security issues in the state capital.

The governor emphasised that the government will not passively observe while criminals continue to threaten the lives of innocent citizens. Additionally, he instructed district, village, and ward leaders to document visitors in their respective areas accurately.
He warned that any home discovered to be sheltering suspected criminals or drug trafficking organisations would face demolition.
Minna has recently experienced a rise in thuggery, violent attacks, and killings, causing concern among its residents.
