Former Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Independent Awards 2024, held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Expo Convention Centre, Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Born on August 15, 1948, in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Dr. Odili pursued his medical education at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and furthered his studies in Tropical Medicine at the University of Liverpool, UK.
His political career includes serving as Deputy Governor of Rivers State in 1992 and as the state’s Governor from May 29, 1999, to May 29, 2007.
The Independent Awards 2024 convened industry leaders, innovators, and key stakeholders to honour excellence across various sectors, with Dr. Odili’s recognition highlighting his significant contributions to Nigerian politics and governance.
